Hybrid Camper – teardrop trailer / arise measurement journey trailer with a bathroom & bathe

While at the Overland Expo 2018 I spotted this hybrid camper that was a blend of a compact low profile “tear drop trailer” and a “travel trailer” with a toilet and shower! Its Calle the ECO Suite built by Kimberley Kampers.

This amazing camper is built in Australia and is designed to survive the back country bush and the outback. The closest thing we have to a hard side pop up camper in the USA is the Hi Lo travel trailers which are impressive as well but they are not built to go off road like this one.

Its pricey but it might be worth it if you want to take it rock crawling and have it survive?

What do you guys think of this one?

  1. Cool unit but why does everyone thats representing a company have to act like a douche salesman? Is it 400amp @1:52 hours or 500amp hours @3:39, he said both, so which one is it pushy sales man? Cool design though, thanks for making the video

  2. I know very little about costs to manufacture products and the logistics of marketing and selling, but, but I hope Made in USA products come out sooner than later that can compete with the proven Australian and African overlanding products for features, capabilities, and durability while delivering at a more realistic price…sell more at a fair price vs sell just a few at an over-high price…but what do I know, right?…lol

  3. In Reference to ,comments about prices in the USA for Australian Off Road Caravans and Campers the Kimberly Kampers are in the High End Bracket for Outback Travellers in Australia, and in Australia there are over 1600 different Manufacturers of Full Size and Pure off road Trailer Campers in the Country Ranging from $9,000 AU to over $140,000 AU full Size Offroad Caravans which are totally dustproof and can Even be towed through rivers up to 90cm in Depth, there are NO American Caravans Sold in Australia other than a number of American Manufactured 5th Wheelers and Tiffen Motorhomes.

  4. They should open US mfg to reduce the price. Been looking at A frame pop top for a light weight/garagable option but these seem more solid. I wonder if they have the air leak problems the A frames do. I will probably just end up with a van as the US options are pretty much just teardrops which are mostly pointless since they have no indoor seating, and in some areas tents and soft sides are not allowed or ill advised (? country)

  5. Incredible video recording! Right here at Y&S FOOD! we like to find this type of contents. We create Travel & Food videos too, around the world, and so we are habitually hoping to find inspirations and also concepts. Thank You.

  6. Looks nice.. Nice til the air ride busts on the trail. And from Australia.. Good luck getting parts quickly. If anything they should be atleast assembled in US so you have parts readily available.

  7. Top quality Aussie awesomeness! You can take these things WAY off-road. Almost anywhere your 4×4 will go. They're exe because they're so tough and off-roadish. There's smaller ones in the range. Another great Aussie trailer is Track-trailer (the competition).

  8. Brilliant. Im still hunting down the best 4×4 camper with a smaller footprint. This is a contender. The price is quite high though. Hopefully it will be reduced as it is more available

  9. I've got one of these in Australia. Cost here is over $112k as shown in the video so about the same in $US. New owners of the company seem to be getting their act together re backup and quality control. We also have much cheaper vans in Oz from other makers that claim to be off road but are really just dirt roaders. These things will go pretty much wherever your tow vehicle can go due to extremely rugged build. A US dealer is needed. You can get visitor access to the KKOG (Kimberley Karavan Owners Group) on the Internet if you are seriously looking to buy one. No affiliation with the manufacturer but tons of tech info and diy projects. Anything you buy in any brand needs maintenance. True off road vans are no different but this group is a great resource. I'm a member for the last 2 years. Info goes back to about 2007 models which are still on the road – and off the road too! This video is the best I have seen. Good luck with the dealership. Hope it all turns out good for you.

  10. I have a 2013 Kimberley Karavan in excellent condition for sale in the Atlanta, GA area for less than half the price quoted in the video. It is listed on the Expedition Portal For Sale Forum, if interested.
